A Month in the Making | The Story of Banafsha

Meet Banafsha — our Master Weaver, who has dedicated 13 years to the art of hand embroidery and Kantha stitching. She learnt this craft from her father, a generational weaver, carrying forward a skill that has travelled through generations.

This saree alone took an entire month to complete.

It begins with sourcing the perfect raw silk, followed by dyeing it to achieve the depth and richness of this deep wine hue. Then comes the most demanding part — countless hours of meticulous hand-stitching, where every motif is built patiently, one stitch at a time.

Inspired by Gujrati embroidery traditions and executed through the Kantha stitch method, this saree is a study in intricate geometry and rhythm. The aanchol unfolds into a rich tapestry of repeating motifs, while the border carries elaborate geometric patterns that frame the saree with remarkable precision. The body is filled with delicate, rhythmic motifs, creating a balance between density and negative space.

There are no shortcuts here.
